ESL Intel Extreme Masters Review

small avatarSahtras in category "PvP" Tuesday, January 19, 2010, 11:59

This weekend we witnessed Europes PvP Elite at the ESL Tournament in Cologne, Germany, fighting for honor, glory and $ 7,500 dollars.

SK Gaming EU (Inflame, Another and Enigmez - Shadowcleave) and Team Dignitas (Hydra, Flyn and Kalimist - RMP) were the most favoured teams and people were looking forward to a great final match between those outstanding opponents. They already encountered each other on the first day, because both teams belonged to group A. As a result we had five very close matches which made us even more excited about the final match. SK Gaming EU won that with 3:2.

The second day changed a lot however. Team Dignitas won the first match and therefore was eligible for attending the finals, but SK Gaming EU encountered SK Sansibar (Fraki, Noonia and Moldran ) playing TSG (War, DK, Pal). Although nobody doubted that SK Gaming EU would definitely win, they had to struggle hard against Frakis TSG. We saw many close matches and even on Blades Edge Arena which favors Shadowcleave, Inflames Team lost to Frakis TSG. In the end SK Sansibar defeated SK EU with 4:3 and so was eligible to advance to the finals.

Nobody thought that SK Sansibar, being inexperienced with tournaments like they are, could win against SK EU.

After having lost against SK Sansibar, SK EU encountered x6tence.wow. When SK EU had won the first two games, X6tence changed their setup to War/War/Druid in order to countercomp them. They had a lot more success playing this comp. However, when both had won three games, SK EU dominated the last one and so became 3rd. Congratulations!

So in the final, SK Sansibar encountered Team Dignitas. The TSG Team had a lot of luck with the maps and Team Dignitas had problems keeping its priest, Hydra, alive. We observed extremly exciting and close matches where Fraki was able to fully heal his Warrior from 1% several times. When it was 3:3, Ring of Valor came up and Hydra dropped pretty fast. What a rush from SK Sansibar.

So congratulations to Fraki, Noonia and Moldran of SK Sansibar for $7,500 dollars.
