In an early announcement, Bornakk posted about an upcoming update to the Armory website and iPhone/iPod app over at the U.S. forums. This new functionality would allow access to the auction house through the armory. The details are a bit sketchy at the moment, and there isn't even a timeframe for release (how untypical of Blizzard) but the integration with the game is said to be significant, so hopefully there will be inventory acces and not just an overview of current auctions.

"Since the launch of the World of Warcraft Armory, we've been regularly releasing updates and new features designed to help players stay connected to the game even when they're not logged in. Today, we wanted to give you a heads-up about a new service now in development that will let players access the Auction House directly through the Armory website or Armory App for iPhone or iPod touch."

Now, just so you don't get TOO excited, apparently some aspects of this service will be premium only, with details on which not available yet. It seems pretty obvious that actual posting and maybe even buying of items would be part of such a premium deal.

Personally, even though it would be great to get it all free I think this is one of the rare occasions where a useage fee would be ok, it's the very definition of optional, and actually very handy.
